This policy explains what personal information Woodstitch ("we", "us") collects, why, and what choices you have. It covers woodstitch.com, the rating platform, and the client dashboard.

1. What we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile photo. Clients also give us business contact and billing details.

Your work. The ratings and answers you submit, and how and when you submitted them.

Device and connection. Your IP address and the approximate location and network it indicates, device and browser details, a device fingerprint, timezone and language settings, and interaction and timing data.

Payout information. If you set up payouts, our payment processor, Stripe, verifies your identity and shares with us the details you give it, such as your name, date of birth, phone, address, and the bank you are paid into. We never receive your full bank account number or Social Security number.

Cookies and analytics. We use cookies to keep you signed in and to secure sign-in. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and we record which link or ad brought you to us.

Messages. What you send us when you contact us.

2. How we use it

We use personal information to:

  1. run your account and the platform;
  2. pay raters and bill clients;
  3. confirm eligibility, including that raters are in the United States;
  4. check the quality of work and detect fraud, automation, and duplicate accounts;
  5. meet tax, legal, and regulatory obligations;
  6. enforce our agreements and protect our rights; and
  7. improve the service and communicate with you.

3. Who we share it with

Service providers who act on our behalf, such as our hosting, payment (Stripe), sign-in (Google), email, and analytics providers. They may use it only to provide their services to us.

Clients receive ratings and results. These are linked at most to a pseudonymous rater number, never to your name or contact details.

Legal and safety. When required by law, or when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, enforce our agreements, or protect anyone's rights or safety, including reporting suspected fraud to law enforcement.

Business transfers. As part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, under this policy's protections.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. How long we keep it

We keep personal information while your account is open and afterwards as long as needed for the purposes above, including tax and payment records, resolving disputes, and preventing fraud. Records of fraud or breach may be kept longer. Ratings you submitted may be kept indefinitely in a form that does not identify you.

5. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed without authorisation.

6. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or for a copy of it. Depending on the state you live in, you may have additional rights under its privacy law. We will verify your request before acting on it, may accept it from an agent you authorise, and will not treat you differently for making it. If we decline a request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our decision.

Some information we must keep even after a deletion request, such as records required for tax or to prevent fraud.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser, though sign-in requires them. You can opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

7. Children

Woodstitch is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If we learn we have, we will delete it.

8. Where it is stored

Woodstitch operates in the United States, and your information is stored and processed there.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell you of material changes.
